Arthur Moats

Having former Pittsburgh Steelers player, Arthur Moats, in the studio to shoot his book cover was an absolute blast. Arthur's infectious enthusiasm for life made the entire session enjoyable. He proved to be a natural in front of the camera, so we captured a ton of outstanding shots. One of my favorites is the inside sleeve photo. For this shot, I wanted to capture the contrast of him wearing a refined suit with a classic, unrefined, gridiron game face. I asked him, "Show me the face you make when you get a strip sack on the quarterback," and his eyes lit up with excitement, resulting in his fantastic expression.

I thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with Vanessa Workoff on this project; her exceptional design work on the book perfectly complemented the images we captured.
